PDO threads for minimally invasive facial tightening

3

What are PDO threads?

PDO (polydioxanone) threads are strong, absorbable, and dependable sutures that have been used for many years for surgery and other medical procedures.  Polydioxanone is a biodegradable, synthetic polymer that is FDA-approved for minimally invasive lifting and tightening of the face. Treatment with PDO threads is designed to improve the appearance of loose and sagging skin in the face and neck areas.  Some of our patients’ most common cosmetic concerns include sagging cheeks, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, neck laxity, drooping eyebrows, and a sagging jawline.

How do PDO threads work?

PDO threads are anchored beneath the skin to instantly lift and tighten the target region of the face.  Insertion of PDO threads also results in the stimulation of collagen production within the treated areas. While the body dissolves the threads 6-9 months after placement, the lifting effects produced by the increased supply of collagen to the region typically last at least 12 months or more.

What are the advantages of neuromodulators?

Injecting neuromodulators is fast, causes minimal discomfort, and requires no recovery or down-time. The treatment takes effect in a few days or up to 1-2 weeks and lasts up to 3-4 months.

What are the advantages of PDO threads?

PDO threading is a unique and minimally invasive procedure that instantly and effectively lifts and contours the face while avoiding the scarring, recovery, and downtime that often accompanies more traditional and aggressive surgery like facelifts. The PDO thread lifting procedure is simple, performed with local anesthesia only, and done quickly in the office. The results are immediate and last 12 months with additional benefits from the collagen production lasting much longer.

KYBELLA® for double chin treatment

3

What is KYBELLA®?

KYBELLA® is an FDA-approved prescription compound used to contour and improve the appearance of the chin by targeting moderate-to-severe fullness below the chin (submental fat) often referred to as a “double chin” which can by caused by genetics, weight gain and/or aging.

How does KYBELLA® work?

KYBELLA® (deoxycholic acid) is a naturally occurring compound produced in the body that is involved in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected directly into the fat beneath the chin, KYBELLA® dissolves those fat cells while simultaneously preventing regrowth of new fat cells in that region. Following the initial consultation, treatment plans are uniquely tailored to each patient based on the patient’s needs and aesthetic goals.

What are the advantages of KYBELLA®?

KYBELLA® is a nonsurgical treatment that requires minimal recovery time. After fat cells have been dissolved during treatment, they are unable to store new fat cells, so maintenance treatments are not required once the desired aesthetic goal has been achieved. In addition to reducing the appearance of submental fat, KYBELLA® also stimulates collagen production and gives the skin a visibly tighter, firmer appearance.

Laser therapy for skin tightening and resurfacing

3

What is laser therapy?

Laser therapy is an innovative tightening and resurfacing treatment that restores the skin’s naturally youthful and radiant appearance, rejuvenates the skin, and reverses signs of aging. Our laser technologies give us the ability to correct skin discoloration and hyperpigmentation, sunspots, skin laxity, spider veins, rosacea, freckles, acne scars and address other types of skin damage on the face, hands, and other areas of the body.

What are the benefits of laser therapy?

The advanced laser therapy technologies we use are non-invasive and designed to rejuvenate, heal, and improve the appearance of skin while stimulating the skin’s natural ability to heal itself. Our treatments enable you to avoid the discomfort, cost, and long periods of recovery required by other traditional laser therapies do (such as CO2 laser therapy) or surgery.

Which laser do we use?

Palomar fractional 1540 nanometer laser is a revolutionary technology that divides light energy into 470 high-precision micro beams. Each beam penetrates into the lower layers of the skin to stimulate the body’s natural healing response and development of healthy new tissue. This treatment improves the appearance of skin by correcting discoloration, texture, and tone. Unlike conventional laser therapies, fractional laser treatment targets smaller portions of the skin thus allowing the skin to heal much more efficiently and reducing recovery time. Treatment sessions are usually repeated several times spaced out over several months to yield optimal results.

RF micro needling for skin tightening (Morpheus8, Intensif)

3

What is radiofrequency micro-needling & how does it work?

Radiofrequency (RF) micro-needling is a non-invasive dual modality procedure that combines the use of radiofrequency energy and micro-needling to create a potent healing environment to improve the appearance of scars, hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, stretch marks, and elastosis (loss of elasticity). This revolutionary procedure produces microscopic channels in the skin for the thermal energy of radiofrequency to penetrate deeper into the skin thus inducing skin repair and collagen remodeling. As collagen production begins to build, fine lines, wrinkles, pores, and other imperfections are diminished to reveal smoother, more youthful skin. To minimize any discomfort experienced during treatment, a topical anesthetic is used. Any redness and sensitivity following treatment should subside within the first 24 hours. Improvement is noticeable after the initial treatment with optimal effects usually being achieved with 3-4 sessions.

What are the benefits of radiofrequency micro-needling?

RF micro-needling is minimally invasive with rapid recovery and virtually no downtime. Combining the use of radiofrequency energy with micro needling enables us to target issues present on both the surface and sub-surface layers of your skin and target multiple concerns in a single session. This technology is specifically designed to remodel and tighten the skin, improve overall skin tone and elasticity as well as the appearance of stretch marks and cellulite.

What radiofrequency micro-needling devices do we use?

Morpheus8 by InMode is a state-of-the-art fractional radiofrequency micro-needling technology that uses 24 silicone-coated needles to penetrate into the skin’s surface underlying superficial fat. Once placed, Morpheus* delivers pulses of radiofrequency energy that tighten the soft tissue, coagulate fat, and trigger the production of collagen.

Intensif by EndyMed is a revolutionary radiofrequency micro-needling technique that delivers short pulses of radiofrequency energy via an array of 25 non-insulated gold-plated micro-needles. In conjunction with fractional pulse mode technology, Intensif generates heat more safely and uniformly into deeper skin layers to achieve optimal collagen remodeling.

Noninvasive skin tightening with Endymed 3Deep™

3

What is EndyMed 3DEEP™ and what does it do?

EndyMed 3DEEP™ is a non-invasive rejuvenating skin technology that combines the use of fractional skin resurfacing (FSR), radiofrequency energy, and micro-needling to address a wide array of skin concerns. EndyMed 3DEEP’s three unique modalities enables it to lift, tighten, and contour from deep within the skin while also resurfacing superficially to reveal new, healthy skin. Use of radiofrequency energy invigorates new collagen production and improves elasticity deep in the lower layers of skin. In conjunction with micro-needling, this radiofrequency energy creates beneficial microinjuries that stimulate the desired healing process and collagen remodeling. The final result is the reduction of the appearance of large pores, wrinkles, stretch marks, acne scars, and other cosmetic concerns to reveal more radiant, firm, and youthful skin.

Liposuction for facial sculpting and contouring

3

What is liposuction?

Liposuction, also called liposculpting, is an advanced cosmetic procedure that can be used to contour the face and optimize appearance. This is accomplished by addressing regions of the face affected by excess fatty tissue, especially around the neck and chin. Liposuction is effective for patients who wish to enhance their appearance in areas that are more resistant to weight loss through diet and exercise.

How does facial liposuction work?

Before liposuction can be recommended, an initial consultation will enable us to determine the patient’s candidacy for treatment, define treatment goals, and discuss overall aesthetic goals. Liposuction is performed by Dr. Bernardini using a cannula, or narrow tube, to remove fat from specific regions of the face via vacuum and produce the desired facial contouring result.

Who is a candidate for facial liposuction?

While liposuction is an advanced procedure designed to enhance the appearance of the face by the reduction of excess fatty tissue, it is not a substitute for diet and exercise. Patients who have been approved for this procedure are also advised implement appropriate lifestyle modifications to ensure that any adipose tissue remaining after the procedure does not expand and reverse the desired results. Liposuction is most effective in patients who are within 30% of their goal weight, are in good overall health, and are non-smokers. Depending on a patient’s medical history or any pre-existing conditions such as diabetes, cardiac conditions, vascular disease, or immune deficiencies, this procedure may not be recommended. Use of certain substances over the duration of treatment could also be contraindicated, including certain over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medications, contraceptives, and supplements.

What to expect?

The procedure itself causes minimal discomfort and is usually performed under local anesthesia. Any post-procedural pain will be managed appropriately according to the physician’s recommendations. This is typically an outpatient treatment that allows patients to return home the day of the procedure.

Fat transfer for facial sculpting

3

What is fat transfer for facial sculpting?

Fat transfer for facial sculpting – also called fat grafting – is an innovative facial rejuvenation process in which unwanted fat is harvested from another area of the body is used to sculpt and volumize sunken, hollowed areas in the face. For patients experiencing volume loss in specific areas of the face due to the natural aging process or other concerns, fat transfer allows us to create lasting structural changes that result in a more youthful looking face. Our fat transfer procedure can be used to address many areas of the face by restoring volume to the cheeks, volumizing and plumping the lips, filling in sunken temples, smoothing nasolabial folds, softening the jawline, contouring the nose, filling in and smoothing out scars

How does fat transfer work?

Fat transfer is autologous, meaning that the patient’s own tissue is used. Once transferred, the fat will live and integrate into the new location for years to come. Fat grafting is an natural alternative to synthetic temporary fillers, especially when larger volume transfer is required. Fat grafting is often achieved using a combination of techniques that allows us to efficiently harvest and appropriately process fat for immediate reimplantation to address volume loss. First, we perform gentle liposuction of excess fat, typically from the jowls, abdomen, thighs, or buttocks. Next, the extracted fat cells are purified, filtered, and condensed into a form effective for injecting into the face. Finally, similarly to dermal fillers, the patient’s own purified fat cells are injected into targeted facial areas to achieve a smooth, volumized, and even look.

What are the benefits of fat transfer?

The elegant solution for facial volume loss, fat transfer is a revolutionary non-surgical procedure that this allows the physician to use the patient’s own fat to naturally rejuvenate, volumize, and sculpt the face. Fat grafting is a natural long-lasting alternative to synthetic temporary filler (Juvéderm, Restylane, and Sculptra) and even traditional surgical methods (full facelift) without the discomfort, cost, and long periods of recovery time.
